Since last September 17, the Israeli Government and army have intensified their attacks against the Lebanese people in various ways. By combining some new techniques —such as the intervention of bleepers and walkie-talkies in order to make them simultaneously explode— and traditional ones —like direct bombing—, the State of Israel has increased its aggressiveness against Lebanon. These attacks are part of the Israeli goal to enlarge its area of influence, which hugely raises the risk of a regional war as it systematically seeks a direct confrontation with Iran.
Although the mass media in our country are treating these attacks as surgical interventions against Hezbollah, the truth is that many civilian houses and stores, as well as civilians themselves, are the main victims of these attacks.
The PCTE expresses its solidarity with the working class and the people in Lebanon as well as the Lebanese Communist Party, who are suffering in their own flesh the spread of the Palestinian massacre in their own territory. Likewise the PCTE denounces the manipulation made by the press in our country around this conflict, being the main focus of the discussion on this subject the role of the different organizations —labelled as “terrorists”—. At the same time, they obviate both that the main victims are civilian people and that the true interests of the State of Israel and its allies are the control of raw materials and trade routes in the region.
